Tally ERP 9 - Disable selection of an account during voucher entry

There would have been many occasions when a particular ledger account would be no longer in use. For eg., when a bank account is closed. There is a chance of accidental entry of vouchers into this account especially when there are accounts with similar names. By default, there is no option in Tally ERP 9 to disable or freeze a ledger account so as it is not available for selection during an entry.

But this can be done using a simple trick. Just rename the account to start with an 'underscore'. So, the account 'CURRENT ACCOUNT ABC BANK' would be '_CURRENT ACCOUNT ABC BANK', and would be placed at the end of the selection list. This way, the account would not be available for selection in the normal way, but can still be used if you start searching with an 'underscore'.
